Chicago, USA/ Cluj, Romania, March 11th, 2009  — EgoPHobia (www.egophobia.ro), an e-zine of the Romanian intelligentsia, is pleased to announce the release of the Guest (Invitat) 21st  issue.

EgoPhobia presents golden steam articles, translations and interviews in three languages, followed by lavish visuals about the emerging and controversial Steampunk subculture in the world.

The featured artists, craftsmen and writers are: Jake von Slatt (USA), Arnon Kartmazov (Israel), Dr. Asi (Romania),Stephen Rothwell, (Great Britain), G. D. Falksen (USA), Eric Lindveit (USA) Haruo Suechiki (Japan), Duncan Lawie (USA), Florin Pîtea Romania), and Vicente Guiterez (USA).

An extremely interesting story, defining for the Steampunk aesthetics and revealing from a theoretical point of view, is Jake von Slatt’s speech from the 2008 California Steampunk Convention. If you want to know where future is really heading, you have to read this!

The materials of the “Romanian” group of Steampunk commentators (Adrian Ioniţă, Silvia-Alexandra Zaharia, Cristina Anghel şi Flavia Darva) deserve a careful study, too. After they configure the fundamental landmarks of the subculture, they relate it to the Postmodern Zeitgeist.

Does Steampunk break the deadlock? A Solution to the CRISIS? Or rather the 19th century enters the stage again?

To find out the answer, please feel free to visit with us at EgoPHobia (www.egophobia.ro).

Egophobia, a cutting-edge literary magazine from Romania , is publishing in  the last issue a long interview with Johnny Payphone , a worldwide  activist and advocate of the Steampunk movement. Even though, Steampunk was covered before in the Romanian media, this interview  and other articles and translations act like a Potemkin ice breacker  in promoting Steampunk philosophy  in the land of Dracula. I am sure that after reading this interview many Romanians will start digging in their grandparents coffers or go into bicycle modification.
